The one thing that all extraordinarily successful people do! From Steve!

After reading hundreds, if not thousands, of New Thought books and successfully implementing some New Thought principles such as manifestation, it took none other than Steve Harvey to shake my spiritual world and get me to start a blog. Seems unlikely, right? What does a comedian have to do with New Thought or the study of metaphysics?

I had been studying and practicing for years with some major successes. One example being prophetic dreams. I had created a YouTube channel and had been uploading New Thought content novel to YouTube. However, it was Steve’s direct and faithful messaging that thrust me into this action. Well, it was a combination of Steve and a famous book titled It Works: The Famous Little Red Book That Makes Your Dreams Come True by RHJ.

I was reeling over the inspiration from the famous little book It Works. It Works is only about 15 pages long and strips metaphysics and the process of manifesting it down into its absolute core. Its elegant simplicity is what I needed to read. I had been studying New Thought or metaphysics, or whatever term you would like to use, for years, soaking every possible morsel of information from healers, leaders, and authors on the subject. I knew I had been reprogramming my subconscious to accept Truth and be not of this world, but now that I was fully confident in the power God grants us as his children, the details were now only getting me off-center.

I had sent my sister It Works, and at the same time, she sent me the inspirational video of Steve’s. I was almost shocked! (One comes to expect these types of things when studying Truth, so I wasn’t completely shocked). Steve’s motivational, spiritual speech and It Works had the same straightforward message. Create a vision board, focus on it multiple times a day, be thankful for what you have, and have faith as a child of God that it will come true. Steve went into some other New Thought Topics, such as fear, but his primary message was about being a child of God and having a vision board.

The number one thing successful people do is create lists of their visions and dreams! They then read this list multiple times a day. Steve Harvey calls it a vision board. Don’t take my word for it; go study any ultra-successful person. They have had and still have a vision board. To manifest, you must write down what you desire and focus on that. From the New Thought or metaphysical perspective, when doing this, your conscious mind will autosuggest and program your subconscious mind to make what you want happen. Your subconscious mind is the entrance to your soul and the channel you commune with Spirit. This falls into the invisible laws of mind and spirit covered by New Thought authors, and as Tony Robinson says, where thought goes, energy flows. It is keeping a constant concentration on your dreams and believing that God will make those dreams come true.

Now, the keys to this are:

  1. You understand what your dreams are and what your gift is, as Steve describes it.
  2. You have absolute faith in God or whatever you call the Universal Spirit and that he wants your dreams to come true.
  3. Your dreams cannot hurt others. This would violate God’s spiritual law.

The belief is often a hard part. I have studied inspirational New Thought literature from the likes of Earnest Holmes, Neville Goddard, Joseph Murphy, Thomson Jay Hudson, Thomas Troward, Robert A Russell, and dozens more. The positivity and logic behind their understanding of Christianity are what I used while studying the Bible to become a believer.

Finding your gift is also often a hard part. Steve articulated how to find your gift in an incredibly simple way. He discusses how everyone is given a gift, and your gift is simple: it is what you do the best with the least amount of effort. That is your gift! Use that gift to follow your dreams. Believe that God is in the business of making dreams come true; write it down, concentrate on it, and you cannot fail.

Though Steve never refers to New Thought by name, however, Steve has stated that one of his influences is The Power of Positive Thinking, which is by New Thought author Norman Vincent Peale. New Thought or interpretations of Christianity (and other religions) with the same message as New Thought have had a significant impact on the world, even though it is often not known by name. If more people understood the logical, positive, and inspirational doctrine of New Thought, it would have a profound impact on society. For one example, if people realized there are countless examples of humans healing others with their minds, even in American history, and that thousands of scientists have explored this, it would go a long way toward leading people to Truth. Truth will make all of our lives better.

I hope you find your gift, write down your dreams, and believe they will come true. God is in you, he wants you to be happy, and nothing is impossible to him.

Some quotes to think about:

Mark 11:24-25 Therefore, I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

Hidden away in the inner nature of the real man is the law of his life, and someday he will discover it and consciously make use of it. He will heal himself, make himself happy and prosperous, and live in an entirely different world. For he will have discovered that life is from within and not from without – Ralph Waldo Emerson
