Where science and spirituality meet to propel human growth
Where science and spirituality meet to propel human growth
If you are searching for spiritual answers, Barry’s content is one phenomenal place to go. He has put in countless hours to convert books and coalesced a fantastic library of New Thought content.
In the fall of 2019, I was riding through the local forest on my mountain bike, enjoying nature around me. The sun shone through the trees and glittered throughout the forest floor, with the usual squirrels, chipmunks, and birds crossing my path as I zipped through the woods on the recently groomed biking trails. Little did I know that I would have one of the most profound moments of my life that day, and it was thanks to the powerful and inspirational voice of Barry.
Prior to hitting the trail that day, I had recently read some books by Dr. Joseph Murphy, who I found through an obscure internet forum via a meme of his book, The Power of Your Subconscious Mind. I found the ideas in his books intriguing, so I read and listened to other related authors such as Earnest Holmes and Napoleon Hill. These authors were teaching the lessons of a movement that started in the mid-19th century named New Thought. Essentially, the message I was getting from these authors is that our mind has more power than what the typical person understands, and it can make your life better! I was excited; the message of these men resonated with me! I looked at examples in my life, and it all seemed to make sense.
All three authors mentioned sold millions of copies of their books since the mid-20th century. They gave numerous examples of the power of the human mind and did excellent work. I am very thankful to be fortunate enough to read their books. Still, I needed more evidence as to why these documented powers were so or how they existed. I subsequently read everything I could find relating to the power of the mind. As I was reading, one name that reoccurred in my research was an Englishman named Judge Thomas Troward.
I typically listen to audiobooks while on my bike. As I got ready for my ride that day, I decided to listen to a work by Thomas Troward. I found his book The Creative Process of the Individual and loaded it into my browser. I happened to go straight to the 7th chapter of the book titled The Denouement of the Creative Process when as it was the longest, and I needed to preload it on my phone to do the lack of internet in the forest. The voice of Barry, the narrator of this work, was the most impressive voice I had ever heard; the man had a voice made for narrating. His voice seemed angelic in a masculine way. His voice, combined with the content of the book, changed my life. As I listened to the logic explained in this chapter, the Truth for the first time in my life struck me! It is like I found what I had been looking for all of my life. The other authors gave examples, but Judge Thomas Troward gave a logical and convincing explanation as to how and why we control our own lives with our minds! He validated the examples of the other authors. I said to myself: you, yourself, control your own universe! After listening that day, I found there is not only documentation but logic to support this fact. It was exhilarating!
As I continued to do more research on the power of the mind, the findings just kept getting more interesting! It was not just me. I found that upon hearing Troward’s Edinburgh Lectures on Mental Science, the esteemed father of American psychology from Harvard, who literally wrote the first psychology book in America, William James, stated it was “far and away the ablest statement of philosophy [he had] met, beautiful in its sustained clearness of thought and style, a really classic statement.” James himself published a work The Varieties of Religious Experience, exploring the ideas of men like Troward, further confirming these ideas.
I owe those experiences and much more to Barry. He was an innovator on YouTube and had content that could literally convert people struggling to find their spirituality. I knew little about Barry until after he passed away last year. I was listening to his YouTube channel, and suddenly, it disappeared. I searched for his content and was at a loss. I eventually found a Reddit board explaining who Barry was and what had happened. Barry has a caring community of followers. The Reddit board is linked to below.
